Explained: David Copperfield’s “Twister”

How it’s done, as explained by Combat Wombat:
The handle thing which “locks” her head in place is fake and is just to convince us her head cant move. As the head box is twisted around, as soon as her face is out of sight, the assistant turns her head left, and then continues the motion with the head box right (making it look as though her head as moved 360 degrees). This is done several times.
When it comes to opening the box to show her ‘twisted’ body, this is rather simple. You’ll notice the trick is designed so the assistant has her arms/hands inside the box. this allows her to slide in the mirrors in a triangular shape at the rear of the box. The join of the mirrors is hidden by the ‘twisted’ body which must’ve been put into place during the head spinning, and then her hands slide in between the mirrors and the fake body. These mirrors reflect the sides of the box, so we think we’re seeing the back (all sides are painted the same colour).
During the second set of head ‘twisting’ she slides the mirrors back up against the sides and removes the ‘twisted’ body.
This assistant is more talented than David himself due to the amount of multitasking she has to do in a short period of time.
